4-0 in Swiss, 1-1 in the cut.

The strategy here is pretty simple: we're a purple fast advance deck, with the conceit that Microtransactions and 3 extra influence are enough to compensate for the lost EtF economy. We're also built to go fast: Microtransactions makes it much easier to recover from dropping to 0 credits and almost all of our econ is high-powered burst operations instead of drippy assets. As an added gimmick, making an iced remote T1 is unusually strong for us, since the incoming brain damage makes it harder for the runner to defer their setup and contest the remote, almost all of our ice is unrestricted ETR, and the campaigns/sansans balance our range enough that the runner isn't guaranteed to score if they inside job us or whatever. Plus, Microtransactions doesn't turn on until T2 anyways, so what else are you going to do T1?

Thoughts on specific card choices:

  • Nostalgiologists: this should've been another NAPD; scoring a 4/2 is very difficult for this deck, and the marginal protection is certainly more valuable than the (admittedly very large!) payoff of Microtransaction recursion. Plus, if we're in the position to end the turn with an advanced card on the table, basically every other agenda in the deck is able to pay us off for it anyways.

  • The Future is Now + GFI: TFiN is a little finicky in practice since it's pretty easy to end scoring it while at max hand size, but playing the 3/1+GFI setup instead of 2x 4/2 is 100% worth the influence. I slotted TFiN into the deck thinking I'd be able to set up scoring chains the way the old Titan FA decks would with their atlas counters, but in practice I always just grabbed more Microtransactions.

  • Nootropics Campaign: A pretty powerful card overall, but 2 is probably the right number absent more sources of brain damage: we're basically happy playing a couple copies of half-off PAD campaigns, and punishing the runner for going low on cards is more like a happy bonus if it ever happens.

  • Ice suite: NEXT ice is great, full stop. Vulcan 1.0 was okay but nothing to write home about. What I really wish I had slotted somewhere was a copy or two of Fenris.

Q: do you think it would work to swap the Quandary for the Fenris? It would add more support for Vulcan while also making the deck less soft to Yog.

I could see that working out fine, although my preference would be to swap out a 4-cost ice instead to avoid increasing the amount of money we expect to spend on ice. In general, I'm not that worried about Yog with this deck: there's worse things than the runner blanking $1-3 of rezed ice with a $6 breaker. Parasite is honestly the bigger concern with Quandary imo.

I think my shortlist for replacing with Fenris would be:

  • Rototurret: As mentioned, Parasite is quite strong against us, so removing a prime Parasite target feels good. Also, between Walrus and Mimic both being very good, I think Rototurret blowout potential is at a relative low.
  • Vulcan 1.0: I think this ice is probably a lot better in a midrange/glacier shell. For us, though, it doesn't say ETR the first time the runner sees it, and isn't especially taxing until the 2nd or 3rd time the runner needs to get through it, so it's not very flexible in terms of what we can accomplish with it. Also, although our economy accelerates as soon as the runner takes a 3rd brain damage, we can't actually punish them for going down to 0 hand size, so there's a real risk that the runner at some point decides they can ignore it.

I thought using the ID to present a score threat T1 was actually really smart, nicely done. I'd also probably agree Fenris is better than Vulcan. Nice deck!
