Welcome to Reviewing the Little Boot Icon: Identity Crisis! an unfortunately named spin-off to an unfortunately named series of reviews for Reboot-modified cards. Today's review: Adam: Compulsive Hacker.
- Changes: Decksize 45>40. Now you can rush even harder.
You get Always Be Running, Safety First, and Neutralize All Threats from the get-go. These are all essentially your ID ability, so I'll review each in turn.
Always Be Running forces you to make a run at the start of each turn, which can be a run event. You basically spend the game with a 3- turn and Jak Sinclair without the stupid program restriction. This is the downside. The upside is an interesting pseudo-AI breaker that can beat Wraparound and Turing easily. Don't use e3 Feedback Implants with it, though, e3 loses value the longer you keep using ABR. The booster card Synaptic Remodulator makes ABR better, though.
Neutralize All Threats turns you into a pseudo-Dionysus Bagbiter: Luxe Larcenist, with extra accesses and no money. Not much to say here, except don't run Imp, as you still have to pay up.
Safety First gives card draw, but a handsize reduction, fortunately Adam has Brain Chip, making me think Dio is an Adam rip-off with his Elysium.
Other cards: Dr. Lovegood lets you get out of the downside of 1 of your directives for the turn. Independent Thinking is just bad, no one plays it. Multithreader is quite good, almost like an in-faction Datasucker, though you want Datasucker. Synaptic Remodulator is interesting, but I haven't played it yet.
Playstyle: This is the precon Adam, he's the only mini-faction precon.
6/10 Best mini-faction.
