Welcome to Reviewing the Little Boot Icon, a series of reviews for cards that have changed in Reboot Project from their original version! Our second review feature Akitaro Watanabe, A Jinteki Unorthodox and Sysop Upgrade.
- Changes: Akitaro now only costs nothing instead of 1 to rez according to the Master Spreadsheet. This means he is at least as good as clicking for a credit. Previously he was a click loss unless you rezzed multiple ice with him.
- Pros: In Reboot Netrunner, Jinteki ice is way cheaper, and Akitaro Watanabe, Braintrust and Dedicated Server help you deploy a bunch of previously overcosted ice across your server for pennies, because that's all Jinteki has, at first.
- Cons: You have to rez multiple ice with him, or he's not worth it. Doesn't actually make money, just is a coupon.
7/10 Now a good idea in Jinteki decks, especially with Braintrust.

Thanks for doing these reviews! We need more of this stuff. Another fun interaction for akitaro, when you get to a (much) later pool of cards: Reboot has added another ice destruction card, p4inappl3. Akitaro is able to stuff the iteraction by rezzing a 2 cost architect. Niche but viable!
