Midori

Upgrade: Sysop • Rez: 0 • Trash: 5 • Influence: 3

Once per run, when the Runner approaches a piece of ice protecting this server, you may swap that ice with a piece of ice from HQ. The new ice is installed unrezzed.

Reviews

Welcome to Reviewing the Little Boot Icon, an unfortunately named series of reviews for Reboot-modified cards. Today's review: Midori, which blanks ongoing effects the Runner puts on your ice.

5/10 Probably underplayed, but I don't want to find out.

Nice review. I'd probably give it a 3/10. There's just so many cases where even if its installed, you can't use it. Every time you have ice stacked in a way that is effective, evertime you've rezzed ice with a non-trivial cost - say 3 or above, every time you've got ice in HQ that is either worse (lower strength/less painful) or inappropriate - putting the Hadrian's wall on Archives (!?), it again becomes pointless. For those cases where you want to counter ice destruction, or Femme's bypass ability, yes it's useful as you pointed out. Again though, you're holding this piece of tech to counter those abilities on one server. You'll want to ensure you install this after the runner has used Parasite, and then hope they run the server again, so you can pop Midori, and hope they continue the run to to where parasite is installed (not a problem if its the outermost piece of ice) and not jack out, without knowing what you are up to. Admittedly this is such a jank card that they probably won't see it coming, so you might surprise them with a face slam into something nasty, but again you need to be holding that nasty ice, and hope they don't have the breaker, or money, to break it. And that you do have the money to rez it. So many what ifs.

It's mostly Restoring Face fodder so you can run Shinobi or the new Anklebiter.
